Hi, I’m Shira
I’m glad you’re here!
I’m a weight-inclusive, Health at Every Size® dietitian with over 6 years of experience supporting clients with eating disorders and disordered eating. I founded Hopeful Horizons Nutrition to create a space where clients feel supported in their relationship with food and less alone in the process of healing.
My interest in nutrition began through my own experiences with dieting, exercise, and body image concerns as a teenager. I know how consuming thoughts around food and body image can become, and discovering Health at Every Size® during my undergraduate studies completely shifted the way I viewed health, movement, and nutrition. That perspective continues to shape the way I show up in my work—with empathy, curiosity, and without judgment.
I began my career at an eating disorder treatment center before transitioning into outpatient care, where I found that I deeply value the longer-term relationships and individualized support this level of care allows.
In my work with clients, I provide individualized nutrition support tailored to each person’s unique experiences and needs. This may include support with meal planning, reducing eating disorder behaviors, and rebuilding a more flexible relationship with movement. I also work with individuals during pregnancy and postpartum who are navigating nutrition, body image, or exercise concerns.
My approach is compassionate, calm, and collaborative, while also direct when needed. I aim to help clients feel safe, supported, and more hopeful as they work toward a more peaceful relationship with food and their bodies.
When I’m not working with clients, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three kids, experimenting with new recipes, going on walks and hikes, and spending time outdoors whenever I can. I’m originally from Montreal, Canada, and I love skiing—I hope to get back to it someday.
